Ha Noi (VNA)-Deputy Prime Minister Truong Vinh Trong, who is also Vice Chairman of the Central Steering Committee for Anti-Corruption, on Jan. 29 called on inspectors to take initiative in the fight against corruption and other social evils.
At a conference on the Government Inspectorate's agenda for 2007, Trong said inspectors should further focus on socio-economic programmes and public employees' routine work in key sectors.
Socio-economic inspections should give a hand in the fight against corruption through detecting any possible corruption cases, the Deputy PM said.
Inspections on the allocation and spending of budgets for natural calamity victims, epidemic control campaigns and poverty-reduction programmes should be further intensified, emphasised the anti-corruption executive.
He also called on the Government Inspectorate to continue providing consultation for the Party and Government in solving ordinary people's complaints and hold regular contacts or dialogues with the public to get a better picture of their problems.
The conference set forth five major tasks, including corruption control, socio-economic inspections, solutions to citizens' claims and petitions, legal making and personnel restructuring.--Enditem
