Ha Noi (VNA) – The administrative reform has been creating an impetus to the renewal which is going on strongly in various socio-economic fields, noted the recent tenth conference of the Communist Party of Viet Nam.
As the government has put the administrative reform top of its concerns, a steering committee for the work, chaired by the Prime Minister, was formed, and a master plan for the endeavour during 2006-2010 was ratified.
The administrative reform was also placed top on the agenda of the government’s regular meetings. The Prime Minister frequently asked heads of ministries and agencies to report him on the process of the reform, and gave instructions to solve existing problems.
At the January 2007 meeting, the government stressed the need to make a breakthrough in 2007, focusing on simplifying administrative procedures to remove hitches of the Vietnamese economy’s competitiveness.
“Concerted efforts, particularly in administrative reform, would help us obtain the GDP growth rate of 8.5 percent in 2007,” said Minister of Planning and Investment Vo Hong Phuc.
Minister of Home Affairs Do Quang Trung said the administrative reform helped build a legal framework to run the market economy, boost economic growth, stabilise society, and integrate into the global economy.
The reform also helped to bolster the process of democratisation, implement democratic regulations at grassroots level, and promote the openness and transparency of the State’s administrative agencies.
Foreign partners at international forums and conferences appreciated Viet Nam’s achievements in its administrative reform. However, they also urged to speed up the on-going process.-Enditem
