Leaders held responsible for administrative reform

12/07/2007 -- 5:38 PM

Ha Noi (VNA) – Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has said that administrative office leaders will be held responsible for administrative reforms and that these results will be used to assess their annual performance.

In an official letter dated July 11, the PM also asked that steering boards for administrative reform in ministries, agencies and localities not be established but only advisory groups under the direct leadership of the office heads.

PM Dung required the Ministry of Science and Technology, in coordination with the Ministries of Finance and Home Affairs and the Government Office, to report to him the result of the application of the ISO9001:2000 quality management system in State-owned administrative agencies over the past year.

Viet Nam has stated that administrative reforms are a chief priority. The government at its regular June meeting reiterated the resolve to slash red tape and create uniformity in administrative procedures in the nation's civil sector.-Enditem
