Ha Noi (VNA)- The Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs on August 17 received over 100 million VND in relief aid for the poor and flood victims sent by overseas Vietnamese from Poland, France, the US and Thailand.
At the reception ceremony, Nguyen Van Vinh from the Viet Nam Fatherland Front expressed thanks to overseas Vietnamese communities for their timely assistance to disadvantaged compatriots at home.
He also made public the total amount of over 84 billion VND that the Fund for the Poor has raised over the past seven years.
The funding has helped build over 50,000 homes for the poor, provide start-up capital for household economy and cover free medical checkups and treatment for dozens of thousands of other disadvantaged people.--Enditem
