Ha Noi (VNA) – Overseas Vietnamese in the US and the UK highly valued the Prime Minister's Decision 135 on visa exemption for overseas Vietnamese, saying that the decision reflects the Party’s and State’s care for the Vietnamese community abroad.
One of the first recipients of the visa exemptions in the US on September 4, Nguyen Van Toai, who had lived in Ohio for 20 years and is now working for a US agency in Washington, said he was very happy when the Vietnamese government has opened wide the door to welcome overseas Vietnamese to return to the homeland.
Vietnamese Ambassador to the US Nguyen Tam Chien shared the joy with the overseas Vietnamese and assured that they will enjoy favourable conditions when visiting the homeland.
In the UK, many Vietnamese arrived at the Vietnamese Embassy on Sept. 4 to apply for the visa exemption,
”It is a sound policy of the Vietnamese government,” said Nguyen Duc Thanh, chairman of the association of Vietnamese in the UK.
The Vietnamese Embassy has previously worked with the Overseas Vietnamese Association in the UK to guide the community on necessary procedures.
The embassy estimates that the UK is now home to 30,000-40,000 Vietnamese residents.-Enditem
