State President meets overseas Vietnamese in Sydney

Sydney (VNA) – State President Nguyen Minh Triet has affirmed that the Vietnamese Party and State would implement policies to facilitate overseas Vietnamese in traveling to and doing business in Viet Nam. During his meeting with overseas Vietnamese residing in Sydney on the morning of September 9, representatives of the Vietnamese community in Australia welcomed the visa exemption for overseas Vietnamese under the Prime Minister's Decision 135 that took effect on September 1, saying that the exemption has made it much easier for Vietnamese living overseas to visit and to conduct business in Viet Nam. Currently there are almost 250,000 Vietnamese living in Australia. The Vietnamese President arrived in Sydney on September 6 for the 15th Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Summit at the invitation of Australian Prime Minister John Howard.-Enditem
