Ha Noi (VNA) – The National Assembly Standing Committee met in Ha Noi on October 18 and heard several reports from the Government and NA committees on the fight against corruption and wastefullness.
Deputy Inspector General Le Tien Hao said over the first nine months of this year, inspectors looked into more than 8,600 cases and confiscated 180.64 million USD in funds.
Hao also said between October 1, 2006 and August 31, 2007, 441 corruption cases had been discovered with criminal investigations getting underway in 406 cases.
NA Chairman Nguyen Phu Trong recommended that the Government draw up specific measures to make the Law on Thrift Practice and Wastefullness Combat and the fight against corruption more efficient.-Enditem
