Ha Noi (VNA) - Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung called for the building of a safeguard mechanism on personal incomes management and stronger administrative reforms to better fight endemic corruption at a meeting of the Central Steering Board against Corruption on October 23.
He said progress has been made in implementing a Party resolution and the Law on Corruption Control.
But some industries, local administrations and officials have shown reluctance to fully commit to the new law.
He named the four areas of enterprise, public rights, State-financed infrastructure investment, and the routine of the Government and industries as still needing firmer administrative reforms.
“Ministries and industries should review legal protocols so as to make adjustments of policies related to infrastructure construction projects and public services so as to mitigate problems for enterprises and the public,” PM Dung said.
“Meanwhile, efforts should also be made to scrutinize the State budget management in an effort to guard against corruption.”
Regarding land management, an area widely tied to embezzlement, corruption and public complaints, he stressed the need to work out a suitable pricing framework for displaced tenants that are forced to give up their homes. He also called for the establishment of a taskforce to inspect land use in the past.
“The administrations at all levels should continue improving the quality of inspections, auditing and handling of corruption cases which have drawn petitions of complaints,” PM Dung concluded. --Enditem
