Ha Noi (VNA) – Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has asked the planning and investment sector to speed up administrative reform and utilise all resources to create a breakthrough in infrastructure investment in 2008.
The PM made the request at a national conference of the planning and investment sector held in Ha Noi on November 30 to implement the national socio-economic development plan in 2008.
PM Dung urged relevant ministries and agencies, particularly departments of planning and investment, to advise local authorities on how to lure investment capital both inside and outside the country and effectively use capital.
He said the sector should look for ways to reduce the time for issuing investment and business licenses, particularly in Ha Noi and Ho Chi Minh City , and push ahead with the fight against corruption and bureaucracy.
According to the Ministry of Planning and Investment, the economy continues to grow steadily in 2007, registering the highest growth rate at 8.5 percent over the past ten years.
Social investment in 2007 is estimated to increase 16.4 percent over 2006, of which, foreign direct investment accounts for 16.5 percent, a year-on-year increase of 17.1 percent.
The ministry put forward eight measures to fulfill its 2008 target, focusing on improving the investment environment, speeding up administrative reform, and looking for investment from all possible sources.-Enditem |
