Denmark helps Viet Nam in administrative reform

27/12/2007 -- 5:15 PM

Danmach.jpgHa Noi (VNA) – The Danish Government will provide 13.3 million USD for Viet Nam’s administrative reform and public management programme in the 2007-2011 period.

An agreement to this effect was signed by Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Cao Viet Sinh and Danish Ambassador to Viet Nam Peter Lysholt Hansen in Ha Noi on December 27.

Under the agreement, the programme, which aims to strengthen public management and administrative reform at central and local agencies, will implement pilot projects to help northern mountainous Dien Bien, Lao Cai and Lai Chau provinces and the Central Highlands province of Dak Nong reduce bureaucracy, strengthen the working capacity of staff and improve the quality of public services.

The programme will establish a partnership between the National Assembly of Viet Nam and the Danish Parliament and assist Vietnamese NA agencies in dealing with complaints. It will also set up a human right educational research network, a human right studies centre at the Ha Noi National University and the University of Law in Ho Chi Minh City.

According to the Ministry of Planning and Investment, with the support from the Danish Government, the programme will help Viet Nam gradually perfect its institutional system and improve the capacity of managerial staff and researchers in the national construction and development as well as boost the effective cooperation between Viet Nam and Denmark.-Enditem
