Ha Noi (VNA) – It is not easy to find a country like Viet Nam where favourable conditions all come together for investors, affirmed a diplomat from the Republic of Korea (RoK).
“ Viet Nam has great attraction to foreign investors, including those from the RoK,” said Trade Counsellor at the RoK Embassy in Viet Nam Choe Hyoung-Chan in an interview with Vietnam News Agency’s reporter in Ha Noi on December 31.
He cited Viet Nam ’s stable politics, growing prestige among international community, high annual economic growth rate of around 8 percent, huge market of over 85 million people and a skilled labour force as reasons behind foreign investors’ interest in the country.
According to the diplomat, the Vietnamese leaders’ determination for renovation and global integration is one of the key factors that help to earn more trust from RoK investors.
He also cited the two countries’ cultural similarities as another reason that helps to bring more RoK investors to Viet Nam .
In 2006, the RoK invested 2.6 billion USD in Viet Nam , becoming the biggest foreign investor to the country. The figure increased to more than 4.6 billion USD in 2007, bringing the RoK’s total investment capital in Viet Nam to 12.6 billion USD.
However, Choe said, RoK investors still face difficulties while investing in Viet Nam , urging the country to improve capacity of relevant ministries and agencies, provide foreign investors with essential information relating to investment environment, upgrade infrastructure and speed up human resources training.
“Viet Nam will retain its position as an appealing destination of RoK investors in the coming time,” Choe affirmed and expressed his belief that the RoK will continue to top the list of foreign investors in Viet Nam.-Enditem
