HCM City (VNA) – The number of overseas Vietnamese companies created last year in Ho Chi Minh City was 528, with a total capital of 144.5 million USD, double the previous year’s figure.
Five-hundred and fourteen of these companies, capitalised at 2.23 trillion VND (140 million USD), will operate under the Domestic Investment Law.
Fourteen others worth 4.5 million will operate under the Foreign Investment Law, including six involved in the software industry, according to the HCM City Committee for Overseas Vietnamese.
The committee said last year it received 2,344 overseas Vietnamese who came to complete procedures needed to confirm their Vietnamese origin.
Of those, Vietnamese-Americans accounted for 50 percent and Vietnamese-Europeans 30 percent.
For the first day of the year, remittances from overseas Vietnamese via the banking system amounted to 2.7 million USD.-Enditem |
