Deputy PM urges inspectorate to push anti-corruption fight

11/01/2008 -- 8:35 PM

Ha Noi (VNA) – Deputy Prime Minister Truong Vinh Trong urged the inspectoral sector to focus on renewing its work in order to push up the anti-corruption fight and better handle citizens’ complaints in 2008.

The Deputy PM made the request at a meeting of the Government Inspectorate in Ha Noi on January 11.

“The Inspectorate on the one hand should uncover every corruption case and on the other hand draw lessons on the causes and possible breeding grounds for corruption so as to take preventive measures,” he said.

Deputy PM Trong also asked the Government Inspectorate to take measures to improve the capacity and professional ethics of ministerial, sectorial and local inspectors.
Last year, the sector conducted nearly 14,000 inspections, detecting financial regulations violations causing losses of more than 87.3 trillion VND and 1.2 million USD, and the mismanagement of more than 8,780 ha of land.-Enditem
