Ha Noi (VNA) – Businesses from all economic sectors are encouraged to set up joint ventures with the State to provide specialised medical services, said Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung at a conference of the Ministry of Public Health in Ha Noi on January 23, 2008.
After briefing the country’s achievements in 2007, the PM touched upon outstanding problems of the health care sector, urged the medical workers to overcome difficulties to gradually meet the people’s demand for better health care services.
He said that Viet Nam remains a poor country, which has to focus investment on infrastructure development, therefore the health care sector should mobilise all domestic and foreign resources to invest in developing medical treatment services.
The PM praised the sector’s achievements in preventing the spread of bird flu and severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) as well as other epidemics in flood-hit areas.
The PM urged the ministry to raise the State management capacity and efficiency, strengthen the financial policy and mechanism and do away with obstacles in providing health care services for the poor.
The State will focus investment on development of the communal health care system, district hospitals and preventive medical centres, while encouraging all economic sectors to invest in providing medical services to reduce the current heavy load on hospitals, PM Dung said.-Enditem
