Foreign Ministry honours overseas Vietnamese

Ha Noi (VNA) – The Foreign Ministry has awarded certificates of merit to three overseas Vietnamese for their great contributions to national construction and defence. Chairman of the Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs (COVA) Nguyen Thanh Son presented the certificates to Cao Van San from Thailand, Nguyen Thanh Nhan from the US and Vu Duc Trinh from Switzerland at a meeting with over 50 overseas Vietnamese from 13 countries in Ha Noi on January 27. The overseas Vietnamese are visiting their homeland on the occasion of the traditional Lunar New Year festival. Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman Son affirmed that the Party, Government and people highly valued the overseas Vietnamese community’s contributions to the homeland over the past years. On behalf of the participants, Nguyen Thanh Nhan expressed his delights at the country’s socio-economic achievements. He said he will continue encouraging Vietnamese people in the US to support the homeland’s development and Vietnamese Agent Orange victims.-Enditem
