Ha Noi (VNA) – The overseas Vietnamese communities in many countries these days gathered for celebrations of the upcoming traditional Lunar New Year (Tet) festival, which will fall on February 7.
The Vietnamese Embassy, the Trade Representative Office and many trade centres and dormitories in Moscow and various cities of Russia held Tet parties on February 3.
Traditional dishes and folk songs brought to the expats the familiar atmosphere of the nation’s biggest festival. In the warm and homely atmosphere, they wished each other good health and more achievements in work, study and business in the new year.
On February 2, Vietnamese students in Moscow’s universities also held a music festival to celebrate Tet and the founding anniversary of the Communist Party of Viet Nam.
In the United Kingdom, Vietnamese expats, students and their friends joined the Vietnamese Embassy staff at a get-together in London on February 3.
With deep sentiments towards the homeland, the overseas Vietnamese raised 2,700 pounds for people in the flood-stricken central provinces.
Vietnamese people in Magdeburg and Leipzig cities of Germany, and Argentina also convened for their Tet celebrations.-Enditem
