Ha Noi (VNA) – Finnish President Tarja Halonen spoke highly of the Vietnamese investment environment, saying that it is an attractive land for foreign investors, including those from Finland .
Addressing the Viet Nam-Finland Business Forum, which took place in Ha Noi on February 22, the visiting president said Finland will continue foster cooperative ties with Viet Nam , particularly in trade and investment, and the two countries should take all chances to facilitate their businesses’ tie-up.
President Halonen also said she hoped that the newly-signed agreement on investment protection and promotion between the two countries will help boost bilateral economic cooperation this year.
She went on to say that Finland strongly supports bilateral and multilateral trade negotiations under the framework of the World Trade Organisation, expressing her hope that Viet Nam will soon complete trade negotiations with the European Union.
Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Sinh Hung said as Viet Nam is striving to become an industrial country, it needs Finland ’s investment in human resources training and key industrial sectors.
During the forum, the visiting President, who began her three-day official visit to Viet Nam on February 21, and Deputy PM Hung witnessed the signing of a cooperation agreement between the Viet Nam Chamber for Commerce and Industry and the Confederation of Finnish Industries.-Enditem
