New York (VNA) – Vietnam chaired an unofficial meeting with United Nations Security Council (UNSC) members on July 25 to discuss the drafting of the council’s annual report for submission to the 63 rd UN General Assembly.
During the meeting, Ambassador Le Luong Minh, UNSC President, said that Vietnam is actively coordinating with the Secretariat and other members of the UNSC to complete the report on schedule, meeting member countries’ expectation and helping increase the council’s operational efficiency.
Participating countries spoke highly of Vietnam ’s initiative to hold the meeting, saying that the activity contributes to reforming the council’s way of working.
They also said that with efforts made by Vietnam and other countries, the council’s annual report will increasingly become perfect, comprehensively analysing important peace and security issues in the council’s agenda.
Some participants said they wanted that any member country that takes over the presidency of the UNSC in July, the month in which a report is made for submission to the UN General Assembly, to continue Vietnam ’s idea to improve the council’s way of working.-Enditem
